Over the past sixteen years, Nurse Page-Bain has used her professional skills to minister to the needs of the people of Guichard and the surrounding areas, including a small village called Achilles. These are some of the programs which she has introduced and in which she has been involved since the beginning of her ministry:

• AIDS awareness
• Pre-natal care
• Cardio-vascular screening
• Screening for cancer
• Women’s health including special education on cancer prevention
• Surgery done by visiting surgeons
• Feeding programs for the very young
• Nutritional awareness
• Midwifery
• Training of midwifery team
• Training of nursing assistants

Currently, one of the areas on which she is focusing is nutrition for the very young. As a result of failed crops and widespread poverty, many of the children are mal-nourished. The worst of these comprises approximately ten babies and toddlers in the program. Many of the older children are also mal-nourished and often attend school without a meal. Nurse Page-Bain desires to expand the current program by including more babies and toddlers and providing at least one nutritious meal per school day for the older children.
