Onesimo
de Arruda was born and raised in a Christian Brazilian family. At the age
of 13 he received Christ as his Lord and Savior. He graduated in December
1991 from Word of Life Seminary with a degree in missions. While studying
at the seminary he met his wife, Marilda.
Marilda is a Terena Indian and was adopted into a Christian family. She graduated from a practical nursing course and also did one year of studies at the Word of Life Bible Institute in New York.
Onesimo and Marilda have two children, Ana Irene and Raphael. They have served the Lord for 14 years with a mission board called MEVA, in the northern most part of Brazil. As a family they worked among the Wai-Wai Indians assisting them with their health and training the leadership of the community.
In 2005 they were accepted by Ministries In Action to be their first
representatives in Brazil. Their current ministry is in Mato Grosso do Sul
teaching local Terena Christians to build a stronger leadership based on
the word of God.
