Dr. Silvia Martinez

Dominican Republic

Dr. Silvia Martinez serves in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic as a medical missionary.  She operates a medical clinic and community health program in a Santo Domingo neighborhood called Los Angeles.  She also runs feeding programs and mobile clinics in the community of El Cacique and and in the bateys, which are very poor immigrant communities of Haitian sugar cane workers.   All of her ministries have one thing in common, they don't just minister to the physical needs of people.  The people who pass through Dr. Silvia's clinic or who benefit from one of her programs hear the Good News of Jesus Christ.  Dr. Siliva's ministry in the Dominican Republic is known locally as Sociedad Lucas.

Dr. Silvia's husband Samuel volunteers a lot of his spare time to the ministry as well.  He manages the construction of a small hospital Ministries In Action is building in the nearby community of Hato Nuevo.  Dr. Silvia and Samuel have three children.  They have a great burden to see revival take place among the churches in Santo Domingo.
