Dr. E. Walford Thompson was born on the island of St. Vincent in the southeastern Caribbean. He was educated at the University of the West Indies in Jamaica and at Bishop’s University in Canada. At the age of 22
Walford responded to God’s gracious call and launched into an effective ministry of evangelism and discipleship, which resulted in the planting of several churches in his homeland. In 1969
Walford became MIA’s coordinator in the SE Caribbean. Walford and his wife
Jen have faithfully served Ministries In Action for over forty years.
Because of his giftedness as a speaker, and having gained much experience and training as an evangelist and Bible Conference speaker,
Walford is in high demand to speak in churches and colleges internationally. He has been privileged by God to participate in International conferences in Lausanne, Switzerland; Amsterdam, Holland; Bogotá, Columbia; Dallas, TX.; and has served as the evangelist in large outreaches in most of the Caribbean nations, at which thousands responded to God’s invitation.
Walford has served on many committees, and is responsible for bringing together Christian leaders of Caribbean and American churches to discuss and implement strategies to affect the great commission. E.g. Destiny movement in Atlanta 1987; Congress on the Evangelization of the Caribbean in Jamaica, Trinidad, Barbados and the Dominican Republic.
Walford is coauthor of the MIA’s Church Growth manual which has widely impacted Christ’s church. He is also a founding member of The Miami International Seminary (MINTS) which is being used of God to train and equip Christian leaders in 20 countries around the world. In 2000,
Walford was awarded the first honorary doctorate degree from the Miami International Seminary.
